Ready Set, Go!
This is where it begins - I just wrote my first Substack. I didn’t think I’d ever give in, but, well, I guess I have - with a little nudge from my friends.
I can write a short story or novella like nobody’s business, and my novels pretty much direct their own path. BUT, when it comes to blogs, newsletters, emails, or any other routine prescribed writing tasks, I lag far behind. Don’t count on me for witty, newsy, insightful entries on any regular schedule - weekly, monthly, or even annually. I just can’t keep up.
The blog on this website is pathetic. Ten entries in three years, and the first nine were written over the first six months. Only one since then. Yup, pretty bad, but I really had every intention...
In conversations with some writer friends recently, we’ve talked a lot about publishing. Primarily, the various steps and stages we as writers go through before, during, and after the process. Writers talk incessantly about publishing, don’t we? Since I’m at a publishing crossroads (a great place to be, for sure), these friends encouraged me to write a blog to share the process as I go through it for all my various projects currently on the move.
“It’d be great,” they said.
“Other writers would love it,” they argued.
“You’d be doing us all a favor. We need to know how it works,” they cajoled.
Okay, Okay! I’m in. But please don’t count on any regular schedule. I’ll write as things happen and I’ll try to stay current. This is the plan:
I’ll write the entry on Substack. I’ll copy it here to the blog. I’ll post links on Facebook.
So… here I go. Come along with me, if you dare.
Next up: “What Crossroads? Where are we, anyway?”
Simultaneously published on Substack.
